Emon | Imon | Iman

Let’s get this thing out of the way first. My name is spelt as Iman, officially. Iman is an anglicised version of the actual pronunciation which is Imon or Emon. Imon is a raaga in Indian classical music. My mum tried hard to get me into Indian classical music when I was young, probably to imbibe some sense of the true meaning of my name. However, I preferred watching cartoons than what I perceived at the time a very hard and even more difficult set of vocal chord exercises for a 6-year old. Years later, I did pick up a guitar and played the keyboard occasionally.

I am not a Health Professional nor a GP,
I have a PhD

I have a PhD in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Leeds in 2014. A PhD is intellectually stimulating, mentally draining, and ingrains resilience; it also lets one use a Dr. as a title. But trust me the novelty wears out rather quickly when you’d have to explain it to someone that you are not actually in the medical profession…
